Another fried chicken option is coming soon to Abbotsford.

It has been revealed that Church’s Texas Chicken is under construction in the parking lot of Rona near South Fraser Way and Old Yale Road in west Abbotsford.

A sign with the company logo has been attached to construction fencing in that area stating ‘Something Bold Is Coming’.

Church’s currently has 16 locations throughout the Lower Mainland, with the closest being in Surrey. There is also a location opening soon in Chilliwack.

The franchise started in 1952 in Texas, and expanded into Canada in 1979. According to the brand’s website, Church’s hand-batters every piece of chicken and bakes fresh biscuits all day long. The menu offers all sorts of chicken options, burgers, wraps, wings, fries, cole slaw, honey-butter biscuits and a variety of sides.

The exact opening date for the Abbotsford location has not yet been confirmed.

Church’s joins a relatively crowded chicken restaurant market in Abbotsford, with Fritou, Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchen and Mary Browns all opening up in recent years. Chicko Chicken is also set to open two Abbotsford locations in the near future. Other popular establishments specializing in serving the bird include: KFC, Wings, Famous Chicken, Nando’s and Barcelos.
