Chalo! FreshCo grocery store opens in Abbotsford

New grocery store jam packed on day one at former Safeway site

Abbotsford’s newest grocery store is officially open for business.

Chalo! FreshCo opened its doors to the public today (Thursday).

The new store is in the former home of Safeway at 100-32500 South Fraser Way.

Customers were allowed to enter the store at 7:30 a.m. and a ribbon cutting ceremony occurred this morning.

Interest for the store was quite high on day one, with shoppers lined up to take advantage of several grand opening offers, tours, demos, product sampling and other specials.

According to a press release from the company,

“You’ll find all the grocery items you love as well as a huge variety of South Asian products, all under one roof. The incredible selection of fresh and prepared products from our counters provides shoppers with the opportunity to try new cuisines and, the in-store restaurant provides delicious meal options that will surely satisfy your South Asian food cravings.”
