Jr. Rocks bid for first against Poco Saints

In Tuesday's win over the T-Men, the Shamrocks roared out of the gate with a 9-2 lead after the first period.

The junior A Victoria Shamrocks blitzed the Nanaimo Timbermen in the first period of the B.C. Junior A Lacrosse League game at Bear Mountain Arena on Tuesday, winning 19-11.

The win puts the Rocks (8-4) in a tie for third place with 16 points in the BCJLL standings. The Coquitlam Adanacs (9-3) and Delta Islanders (9-5) lead the league with 18 points.

Next up for the Jr. Rocks is a home game Saturday, 5 p.m. against the Port Coquitlam Saints (6-7). The Rocks visit the New Westminster Salmonbellies (8-4) on Sunday.

Dane Schoor scored four goals and an assist and Jesse King had a goal and five assists. Brody Eastwood scored a hat trick and Chris Wardle, Chris Kasper and Max Fredrickson each scored twice.

Goalie Charles Claxton stopped 38 of the 49 shots he faced. Former Shamrock Nick Sanderson scored a hat trick for the Timbermen.
