The Taco Smackdown event is coming to Abbotsford’s Tradex on Aug. 24.

A new festival coming to Abbotsford, B.C., this summer promises to celebrate Mexican culture in a variety of unique ways.

The inaugural Taco Smackdown event offers Lucha libre wrestling, food trucks, margarita and tequila bars, a vendor market, live music and DJs and a kids’ zone.

The festival runs on Saturday, Aug. 24 from noon to 8 p.m. at Tradex.

The wrestling portion features some of the stars of Vancouver-based WrestleCore, including Evan Rivers, Sebastian Wolfe, Chakala and Kit Calio. It will be hosted by local wrestling personality Kobra Kai.

Music includes a performance from Mariachi Tabasko, known as Vancouver’s premier mariachi band. Food offerings consist of specialty tacos and numerous other taquerias and eateries plus a local artisan market, as well as cocktails. There will also be a bouncy castle and mini-golf.

Admission for the event is $20, with kids 12 and younger getting in free of charge. Tickets are available online.
