Yale Lions guard Jauquin Bennett-Boire has been invited to try out for Canada's national cadet (under-17) boys basketball team.

Bennett-Boire, wrapping up his Grade 9 year at Yale, is one of 30 players from across the country to be selected for the tryout camp, which runs this Friday through Monday at Toronto’s Ryerson University. At age 14, he's one of the youngest invitees.

Those who survive the tryout will represent Canada at the FIBA U17 world championships in Lithuania this summer (June 29 to July 8).

Additionally, six other Yale hoopsters have made the cut for Basketball BC's provincial teams this summer. Hailey Kendall (U17) and Chantel Ewert (U16) will represent B.C. on the girls' side. Paul Baadsvik, Ashton Kendall and Jassi Gill will suit up for the U16 boys team, while the U17 boys squad features Yale's J.J. Pankratz along with Abby Collegiate's Devin Brar.
