There will be a new champion at the World Junior A Hockey Challenge.Canada East made sure of that, doubling up the three-time defending champion United States 4-2 in the first semifinal on Friday (Nov. 11) at the Langley Events Centre.Devin Shore, Canada East's player of the game, scored twice. His second of the night came in the third period after the U.S. had cut the deficit to one goal.Shore had also opened the scoring 4:03 into the contest.Three minutes later, Patrick Megannety made it 2-0 and the U.S.'s Ray Pigozzi and Canada East's Tylor Spink closed the first period with goals for a 3-1 Canada East advantage.The second period was scoreless but Andy Wilinski's point shot 6:31 into the third eluded Canada East goaltender Adrian Ignagni to pull the U.S. to within a goal.But less than three minutes later, Shore's second of the night restored the two-goal advantage.Canada East will play for the gold on Sunday at 5p.m. against Canada West.The U.S. will play for the bronze against Sweden on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
