The W.J. Mouat Hawks senior girls soccer team just keep on winning and continued that trend at the 2025 Osoyoos Desert Classic, which ran from April 10 to 12.
The Hawks competed in four games over the three days and went undefeated to claim the tournament championship in their division.
"The Hawks showed tremendous character, teamwork and grittiness over all four games," stated head coach Mike Perry. "It was a great team effort with some very notable individual highlights."
Offensive highlights from the tournament included the first goals of the season for both Anna Scandella and Jagvir Takhar. Goalkeeper Eunice M’Bikata recorded all four wins. Perry added that exceptional defence was provided by: Jade Lima, Sophia Santini, Elise Mackenzie and Adabreet Kaur.
Mouat's Kirin Sura was named the tournament's most valuable player. Sura also earned MVP honours in the opening game of the tournament. Other MVP's included: Amber Sura (game two), Zoe Tessier (game three) and Ella Wilson (game four). Perry also wanted to thank team managers Hudson Mackenzie and Ryan Matthews for their efforts during the tournament. He additionally thanked team sponsors: Snowcrest Foods, Big Steel Box, Fix Auto, Louise from RDM Lawyers and Phil (the team's TRAXX bus driver).
The Hawks are a perfect 3-0 early into the Eastern Valley Athletic Association's Tier 2 senior girls regular season and have outscored the opposition 19-2 in those games.
The next two games after the Easter break for the day see them travel to Mission on April 28 and then host the Rick Hansen Hurricanes on April 30.
