The Abbotsford Pilots experienced the highest of highs and the lowest of lows in a pair of weekend games.

On Friday, the local junior B hockey club blasted their local rivals, the Mission Icebreakers, 8-2 at MSA Arena. The Pilots padded their stats at the Icebreakers’ expense – six players registered multi-point games, including Justin Dorey with a hat trick, Riley Lamb with two goals and two assists, and Kyle Star with two goals.

Goalie Riley Parker, recently returned from the injured list, picked up the win after stopping 23 of 25 Mission shots.

On Sunday, the Pilots were hammered on the road, falling 6-0 to the Grandview Steelers at Burnaby Winter Club. Six different Steelers players bulged the twine in the win, while Parker got the hook in favour of backup Eric Kulia five minutes into the third period, after Grandview’s fifth goal.

The weekend results leave the Pilots at 24-12-2-0, two points behind the Aldergrove Kodiaks for first place in the Pacific International Junior Hockey League’s Harold Brittain Conference. Aldergrove has two games in hand.

• The Pilots are back in action on Friday, when they host the North Delta Devils (7:30 p.m., MSA Arena).
