The Abbotsford Sports Hall of Fame is honouring six teams and eight individuals for their accomplishments in 2010.

The 14 exceptional performers will be featured on a "Wall of Fame" plaque, which will be displayed at the Hall for one year.

Wall of Fame teams include a quartet of provincial high school champions: the Yale Lions (AAA boys basketball), Abbotsford Christian Knights (Single A girls basketball), W.J. Mouat Hawks (girls wrestling) and Bateman Timberwolves (AA girls rugby).

A pair of University of the Fraser Valley teams are also being recognized. The Cascades women's soccer team won the Canada West title and took bronze at nationals, while the men's golf squad finished second at both provincials and nationals.

The Wall of Fame is also honouring a series of athletes on an individual basis, including Marek Klassen and Matt Letkeman of the Yale senior boys basketball team; Ashley Topnik and Nikkie Brar of the Mouat girls wrestling team; and Madi Blakeburn of the Bateman girls rugby team.

Other Wall of Fame individuals include champion wrestler Jasmit Phulka of Rick Hansen Secondary, junior national team softball player Tessa Loewen, and golfer Adam Hadwin, who had a sensational rookie season on the Canadian Tour.

The Hall of Fame banquet is April 30 at the Legacy Building. Tickets are $60, and can be purchased at the office of Hub Fire Engines.
