Senior Hawks shooting guard Jass Singh has been selected to the U-17 provincial team.

Singh, a Grade 11 starter at W.J. Mouat, will join 12 other players from across B.C. who will compete at the U17 nationals in Halifax from Aug. 2 to 9.

During the Hawkball Tournament in late December, Singh drained eight three-pointers in the final to lead the Hawks to an exciting 87-84 victory over North Surrey and he was later named tournament MVP.

"This  year’s process was an exciting one as we were able to have our committees evaluate the players over two separate sessions in November and December," said Lawrie Jones, Basketball BC's executive director. "As always the process was invigorating as we observed some great talent from throughout the province and challenging as the athletes competed for a spot on the respective teams."
