VIDEO & SLIDESHOW: B.C. Horseshoe Association hosts Abbotsford tournament

B.C. International Highwayman Open runs on Saturday and Sunday

Competitors from all over B.C. and Washington State took over the Abbotsford Horseshoe Club at Mill Lake Park on Saturday and Sunday for the B.C. International Highwayman Open horseshoe event.

Athletes competed in different skill classes in men’s, women’s, seniors and juniors divisions, with prize money up for grabs.

The tournament was organized by the B.C. Horseshoe Association, and horseshoe activity ramps up throughout the province next weekend, with events in Quesnel, Kamloops, Powell River and Cloverdale.

Winners from the event included:

Victoria’s Anthony Rondow (pee wee A), Abbotsford’s Robin Reitsma (pee wee B), Victoria’s Tom Moffat (men A), Victoria’s Sante Michielin (men B), Victoria’s Dave Arnold (men C), Victoria’s Claude Cliche (men D), Ladysmith’s Lindsay Hodgins (women A), Victoria’s Louise Hamel (women B), Victoria’s Brenda Arnold (women C), Sooke’s Gail Bishop (women D), Dry Creek’s Rick Britz (elder A), Abbotsford’s Don Fleming (elder B), Washington’s Rick Eherinfieldt (elder C), Winfield’s Dan Reeves (elder D), Abbotsford’s Brian Rickaby (elder E) and Washington’s Jim Quist (elder F).

Abbotsford competitors with top three finishes included: Parker Rowell (second, pee wee B), Kevin Kostuk (third, men B), Joe Brietkopf (third, men D), Cecile Reitsma (third, women D), Darryl Olson (second, elder B), Jim Williams (second, elder C), Dwayne Bertrand (second, elder D), Archie Radowits (third, elder E), Lorne Listonen (second, elder F) and Rod Herriot (third, elder F).
