The Abbotsford Outlaws 99B girls fastpitch team continued their outstanding season with a tournament victory in Richmond last weekend.
The Outlaws went undefeated in the round robin, winning their four games by a combined score of 40-9 to claim the top seed.
They opened the playoffs with a 4-3 win over the North Vancouver Stars, as Lynsey Evans came through with a clutch one-out triple and later scored the winning run.
In the semifinals, the Outlaws blanked the Surrey Storm 15-0 behind strong pitching performances from Taylor Spencer and Kyra Watson.
The Abby club clinched the gold with a 7-3 triumph over the Vancouver Wildcats. The game started off as a pitchers’ duel, but the Outlaws scored three runs in the third inning and three more in the fourth on triples by Britney Ingham and Ashley Huberts. Kyra Watson was in full command on the mound, surrendering just two hits and striking out seven.
The tourney triumph boosted the Outlaws’ record to a remarkable 33-0.
