Kevon Parchment of the University of the Fraser Valley men's basketball team has been named the Canada West male athlete of the week.

Parchment, a 6'3" guard, notched a pair of double-doubles as the Cascades picked up two road wins on the weekend. He posted 15 points and 14 rebounds in UFV's 81-61 win over the Brandon Bobcats on Friday, and followed that up with a 23-point, 12-board effort in an 82-68 win over the Regina Cougars on Saturday.

Parchment was also named the UFV male athlete of the week, and Kayli Sartori of the Cascades women's hoops squad picked up the Cascades' top female award. Sartori exploded for a career-high 27 points (10-of-15 shooting from the field, 5-of-7 from beyond the arc) in a 74-35 win over Brandon, and she added 11 points in a 59-55 loss to Regina.

Despite falling to the No. 3-ranked Cougars, the UFV women (9-1) maintained their grip on No. 2 in the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) national poll heading into the Christmas break.
