Head coach Al Tuchscherer and the UFV women's basketball team are ranked No. 2 in the CIS for the second straight week.

The University of the Fraser Valley women's basketball team maintained the No. 2 spot in the most recent CIS national rankings released Tuesday.

The Cascades (4-0), coming off a weekend sweep of the UVic Vikes, picked up two first-place votes, but they still trail the top-ranked Windsor Lancers by a significant margin. The two-time defending national champs garnered 39 first-place votes.

The UFV men (2-2) fell from No. 4 to No. 8 in the national rankings after dropping a pair of games to UVic.

• The Cascades hoopsters face a stiff test on the road this week, as they visit the UBC Thunderbirds. Both UBC squads are nationally ranked – the men are No. 1, and the women are No. 10. Games go Friday (women 6 p.m., men 8 p.m.) and Saturday (women 5 p.m., men 7 p.m.) at War Memorial Gym.
