The University of the Fraser Valley basketball teams headed in opposite directions in the latest edition of the CIS national rankings released Tuesday.

The Cascades women, coming off a weekend sweep of the UBC-Okanagan Heat, moved up one spot to No. 3 in the top-10 poll. They leapfrogged the Regina Cougars, who split pair of games with the Calgary Dinos. The Dinos moved up one spot to No. 7, and all three teams boast matching 15-3 records to sit tied atop the Canada West conference.

In the aftermath of a weekend split against last-place UBC-O, the Cascades men (10-8) slid out of the top 10 after sitting at No. 9 last week. They still garnered votes in the poll, leaving them tied with Bishop’s for 12th overall.

The UFV basketball teams host a pair of home games vs. the Thompson Rivers WolfPack on Friday (women 6 p.m., men 8 p.m.) and Saturday (women 5 p.m., men 7 p.m.). The women’s games are particularly interesting, as TRU (14-5) is within striking distance of the Cascades for first place in the Pacific Division.
