The UFV Cascades begin the 2025 soccer season on Aug. 22.

A new soccer season is just around the corner for the University of the Fraser Valley, with the action kicking off for both the men's and women's teams in August.

Both squads will have a challenging start to the season, with the first two matchups against the top two Pacific division teams from last year.

However, the men are well-positioned to put up a good fight, as they finished in third place in their division last season and secured the fourth-most wins in all of Canada West.

The women's team will have a lot more ground to make up, with the squad suffering the second-worst record in their division, only winning three games last year.

So, for them to start off this new season against the previously undefeated UBC team will prove a massive challenge for the Fraser Valley women.

However, the women's soccer team does have the distinction of being one of UFV's only teams to win a Canada West title, with the school finishing atop the women's division back in 2010.

The men's soccer team has an extensive list of newcomers this season, including:

• Matheus De Souza, goalkeeper (Surrey)

• Iza Martinez, striker (Burnaby)

• Sloan Hatch, right fullback (White Rock)

• Beckham Hatch, winger/defender (White Rock)

• Grischa Heider, midfielder (Schulldorf, Germany)
