Twisters athletes earn 11 medals

Donald, Phillips and Gooch win golds in Coquitlam

Twisters gymnasts took home a handful of hardware at the Winterfest competition in Coquitlam on Jan. 30 and 31.

Local athletes earned a total of 11 medals including: Rolanda Donald, (gold on bars Junior Olympic Level 5); Emily Phillips, (gold on beam, gold on floor, silver all around JOL 3); Eliza Gooch, (gold on bars JOL 3); Amelie Shea, (silver on beam, silver on floor JOL 3); Abby Cleveland, (bronze on bars, silver on beam JOL 3); Kennedy Fast, (bronze on bars JOL 5); and Vienna Howes, ( bronze on bars JOL 5).

The next event for Twisters is for Elite Canada in Halifax from Feb. 4 to 7. This is one of the primary meets at which national team status is determined. Athletes attending from Twisters are Dawson Friesen, Robert Watson, Ken Ideda and Steven Chaplin.

There are also three other meets this month at the Langley Events Centre, Omega Gymnastics in Coquitlam and BC Winter Games in Penticton.
