Twisters gymnasts took home a handful of hardware at the Winterfest competition in Coquitlam on Jan. 30 and 31.
Local athletes earned a total of 11 medals including: Rolanda Donald, (gold on bars – Junior Olympic Level 5); Emily Phillips, (gold on beam, gold on floor, silver all around – JOL 3); Eliza Gooch, (gold on bars – JOL 3); Amelie Shea, (silver on beam, silver on floor – JOL 3); Abby Cleveland, (bronze on bars, silver on beam – JOL 3); Kennedy Fast, (bronze on bars – JOL 5); and Vienna Howes, ( bronze on bars – JOL 5).
The next event for Twisters is for Elite Canada in Halifax from Feb. 4 to 7. This is one of the primary meets at which national team status is determined. Athletes attending from Twisters are Dawson Friesen, Robert Watson, Ken Ideda and Steven Chaplin.
There are also three other meets this month at the Langley Events Centre, Omega Gymnastics in Coquitlam and BC Winter Games in Penticton.
