A four-member team from local gym Crossfit Abbotsford competed in the final leg of the West Coast Triple Crown last weekend, finishing 13th out of 36 teams from across B.C. and western Canada. The team, consisting of Abbotsford residents Daniel Tambosso, Concetta D’Amato, Shane McAleese and Alicia Hurley, won the honour of participating  in the Triple Crown by competing head-to-head with other gym members.

This last leg of the Crown was held in the Richmond Olympic Oval, which is also the location of the Canada West regionals in which crossfit athletes compete to represent the region in the national Crossfit Games.

The Abbotsford team did well on Friday when called upon to perform exercises with their maximum weight, but truly excelled on Saturday during the longer workouts. The team placed fourth overall during the odd object lift, which involved hoisting a sandbag from the ground over the shoulder multiple times.

Crossfit is a community driven, strength and conditioning program that has been designed to help participants excel in every aspect of fitness through functional movement. Crossfit has a strong community-driven culture with 47 affiliated gyms in the lower mainland alone.
