After a hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Terry Fox Run is back in its traditional format in Abbotsford for 2024.
The Fraser Valley Metis Association, in partnership with Metis Nation BC, will be hosting the event on Sunday (Sept. 15).
"We are committed to honoring Terry's legacy by bringing the Terry Fox Run back to Abbotsford after a long hiatus due to COVID," organizers stated in a press release. "This event is not only significant for Canadians but also a great opportunity to raise money and awareness towards cancer research."
The route will see participants complete a loop of the Mill Lake Park trail. Registration begins at 9 a.m., with a warm-up and speakers addressing runners at 9:30 a.m. The run begns at 10 a.m. and lasts until around noon.
Metis-owned Wingerz food truck will be in attendance, with MNBC covering the cost for lunch to those who participate. Swag, water, snacks, and lunch are all provided and participants can do either the four-kilometre or eight-kilometre (twice around) course. Distances will be marked beforehand.
Bicycles, wheelchairs, and dogs on leashes are all welcome.
