Taylor places fifth at Puerto Rico Open

Abbotsford’s Nick Taylor had his best finish in 2016 at the Puerto Rico Open at Cocoa Beach, which wrapped up on Sunday.

He shot a combined 278 over four rounds to score a -10 and earn $109,500 at the PGA Tour event.

Taylor finished tied for fifth at the event, which is his best finish since he won the Sanderson Farms Championship inMississippi in November.

So far this year, Taylor has made the cut in eight of 12 starts but prior to this week, his best finish was a tie for 20th. The result pushed him to 281st on the Official World Golf Ranking, up from 333rd.

Taylor has earned $327,471 in the 12 events he has participated in this season. He has accumulated 235 points in the FedExCup series, good for 108th overall.

The Yale Secondary grad earned $1,072,360 in 28 events last season, which was his second full season on the tour.

He next travels to Houston to participate in the Shell Houston Open, which runs from March 31 to April 3.
