Abbotsford golfer Nick Taylor made his way safely through the local qualifying round for the U.S. Open on Monday.
Taylor shot a three-under 68 and Bellingham Golf and Country Club to finish tied for third in a field of 111 golfers. The top seven punched their ticket to sectional qualifying.
Taylor, a PGA Tour Canada (formerly known as the Canadian Tour) regular, has qualified for the U.S. Open twice before – he missed the cut in 2008 at Torrey Pines in San Diego, and in 2009 he finished tied for 36th at Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, N.Y.
