Abbotsford’s Rotary Stadium is set to be the battleground for a trio of important high school rugby games on Friday night.

Round two of the Stadium Series returns to Rotary Stadium and opens with the hometown W.J. Mouat Hawks senior boys team taking on North Vancouver’s Handsworth Royals at 4 p.m.

West Vancouver’s Sentinel Spartans then challenge a Fraser Valley team to be determined at 5:30 p.m.

The three-pack of games concludes with the Robert Bateman Timberwolves taking on West Vancouver at 7 p.m.

The results from these games are used to rank teams and assign berths to the zones for the upcoming provincial tournaments. Stadium Series games also occur in South Surrey, Kelowna, Shawnigan, Port Moody and Langley on Friday and in Victoria on Saturday.

Round one of the Stadium Series occurred on April 6 and 7, with Mouat defeating Penticton 46-7, Yale beating Handsworth 45-7, Bateman downing Belmont 57-12 and Abbotsford Senior winning 17-7 over Sardis.

The 2018 senior boys rugby provincials are scheduled to return to Abbotsford’s Rotary Stadium from May 30 to June 2. Yale, ranked number one in AAA, and Bateman, ranked number four in AAA, are both expected to challenge for the title.
