Camps are led by UFV women’s basketball head coach Al Tuchscherer, his coaching staff, current Cascades and Cascade alumni. Sessions are offered for girls in Grade 6-12, and also serve as selection events for summer travelling teams. For more information email juniorcascades@gmail.com or visit JuniorCascades.ca.

KARDOES PICKED FOR HIGH-PROFILE RACE

Abbotsford skier Megan Kardoes has been selected to race at the prestigious Whistler Cup this weekend.

Kardoes, a member of the Hemlock Ski Club, will compete with hundreds of elite ski racers from 19 countries in various disciplines, including slalom and giant slalom.

ICE SHOW ON SATURDAY

The Abbotsford Skating Club is presenting The Greatest Show on Ice, a circus-inspired ice show, on Saturday, April 6.

The music used in the figure skating extravaganza is based on the sights and sounds of the circus. Shows are at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. at MSA Arena, and tickets are $10 for adults, $7 for students and seniors, and children under three are free. KIDS BALL LEAGUE GEARING UP FOR SEASON

The Kids Interchurch Baseball League is accepting registrations for its summer season.

The league emphasizes family fun, community spirit and good sportsmanship, and runs on Thursday evenings beginning May 2 and finishing on June 27. Boys and girls aged 5 to 12 are welcome to register, and co-ed T-ball and junior teams are being offered. Proper baseball equipment is supplied to ensure safety.

The cost is $25 per player and includes awards, team photos, ball caps and a family barbecue. Organizers are also seeking parent volunteers to help out.
