With basketball season just a couple of months away, the Fraser Valley Basketball Officials Association (FVBOA) is searching for new officials to join them this season.

RACE RAISES FUNDS FOR CANUCK PLACE

Over 250 kayakers, cyclists and trail runners will take on the 2013 Adventure Challenge for Kids presented by Innovative Fitness this weekend.

The multi-sport event, which benefits the Canucks for Kids Fund in support of Canuck Place Children’s Hospice and the 60 Minute Kids’ Club, runs Sept. 14 at Cultus Lake and Sept. 15 at Jericho Beach. Racers will compete in both short and long courses, as well as a kids’ course at the Vancouver location. For more information, or to support a participant, visit www.adventurechallenge.ca.

INTRO TO DRAGON BOATING

The Fast and Furious dragon boat team out of the Fort Langley Canoe Club is hosting an event to introduce individuals to the fast-growing sport on Saturday, Sept. 28.

The event, for people age 15 and up, runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Fort Langley Marina Park at the base of Church Street. It's free to all, and paddles and personal flotation devices are provided. Participants age 15-18 must have a parent or guardian sign a waiver.
