Smith makes splash at swim meet

Smith claimed a pair of gold medals in the eight-and-under girls category, winning the 50-metre backstroke and the 50m butterfly. She also won two medals in the 10-and-under mixed relays – gold in the 200m medley and bronze in the 200m free – and set six club records along the way.

Peyton Smith won a silver medal with the mixed 11-12 200m free relay team, and set four individual club records of her own. Alex Simpson set a new club mark in the boys 15-17 100m breaststroke, while Jayme Reitsma set new personal bests in four events and Olivia Simpson turned in several strong performances in her first-ever meet.

At the B.C. AAA Championships in Victoria the week before, Abbotsford swimmer Robyn Nakano won a bronze medal in the age 12 girls 200m fly. Robyn and Olympians teammate Hannah Weinkauf were silver medal winners in the age 11-12 4x50 free and medley relay teams.
