Sevens heaven for T-Wolves, Lions

The Robert Bateman Timberwolves and Yale Lions were the big winners as the Abbotsford Rugby Football Club held its annual sevens tournament.

The Robert Bateman Timberwolves and Yale Lions were the big winners as the Abbotsford Rugby Football Club held its annual high school city sevens tournament last Friday.

The T-Wolves swept to victory in both the senior boys and girls divisions, while host Yale took the junior boys and Grade 9 boys titles.

MVPs were awarded for each team, and those winners are as follows.

Senior boys: Surge Francis (Yale), Noah Jensen (Bateman), Colton Derouin (Sardis), Caleb Schneebeli (Mouat), Leonard Langi (Abby Senior) and Jonny Li (Hansen).

Senior girls: Sophia Degianni (Yale), Lynsie Pratt (Yale B), Yasmine Uko (Abby Senior), Natalya Schroeder (Abby Senior B), Lauren Kerr (Bateman), Allison Appeldorn (Bateman B), Emma Livingstone (Hansen) and Sierra Hunter (Sardis).

Junior boys: Matt Fraser (Yale), Joe Heppelle (Bateman), Payton Gibson (Mouat), Arnold Dalluyon (Abby Senior), J.B. Oostenbrink (Sardis) and Mark Stephens (Abby Traditional).

Grade 9 boys: Connor Byron (Yale), Cole Goldie (Yale B), Josh Sankar (Abby Senior), Corbin Bowen (G.W. Graham), Anthony Bodger (Bateman) and Alex Howman (Mouat).
