Senior Cardinals 10-14 on season

Junior Cardinals currently placed third in league standings

The Abbotsford Cardinals were hoping to shake off a two-game losing streak Thursday night.

The senior baseball team has been struggling this year, and as of press deadline Thursday afternoon, the Cardinals have 10 wins and 14 losses at nearly the halfway point in the season.

“We’re outhitting teams,” said coach Corey Eckstein, but not putting up the runs.

On June 7 against the Coquitlam Reds, Abbotsford fell 1-4, not picking up that lone run until the fifth inning, in the first game of a double-header.

In the second game, the Cardinals again dropped the game, but by a narrower margin, 1-2.

The Cardinals played the North Delta Blue Jays Thursday night at Mackie Park.

Junior Cardinals

The younger Cards are having a phenomenal season thus far, adding two more decisive wins to their record last Saturday.

The team played a double-header against the Victoria Eagles and walked away with decisive 1-14 and 3-12 victories.

These wins have cemented the team in third place (16-7) in the standings, behind the second-place North Shore Twins, and the league-leading Langley Blaze.
