Senior boys basketball provincial draws revealed

Hansen ranked first in AAA, Mouat ranked sixth in AAAA heading into tournament

The senior boys high school basketball draws have been revealed

The spotlight was on the senior girls basketball tournament last week, and this week it's the senior boys turn.

The 2017 B.C. senior boys high school basketball championships announced the draws for all four tiers on Sunday, and a number of Abbotsford high school teams will begin their quest for a title starting on Wednesday at the Langley Events Centre.

The Rick Hansen Hurricanes, fresh off a Fraser Valley title win on Saturday, are ranked number one in the province in the AAA tier. The Hurricanes open on Wednesday night at 8:15 p.m. against Campbell River's Cahiri Secondary.

Also qualified for the AAA tournament is the Robert Bateman Timberwolves, who head into the tournament ranked 10th in the province. They kick off the event on Wednesday at 6:45 against Nanaimo District.

The AAAA tournament has the W.J. Mouat Hawks ranked sixth in the province, and looking to build off a fourth place finish at the event in 2016. The Hawks battle North Vancouver's Handsworth at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

The Yale Lions also return to the provincial championship tournament, and sit 13th in the province. They kick off the event against Vancouver College on Wednesday at 1:45 p.m.

The Abbotsford Christian Knights also punched their ticket to the big dance in the AA conference, and open as the 10th seed. They take on Westsyde Secondary from Kamloops at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
