One of the largest rugby events in Canada comes to Abbotsford from May 31 to June 3 at Abbotsford Exhibition Park.
The BC School Sports rugby provincial championship sees boys and girls teams, both 7s and 15s, come together from across the province to vie for the coveted BCSS championship banner.
The event includes the BC Bears senior men’s 15s Blue versus Gold trial match on Friday, with kickoff set for 6:30 p.m.
Spectators are welcome and will need to purchase single-day tickets to attend the match if they do not already have a ticket for the provincial championships.
Meanwhile, the AA and AAA provincial championships will each consist of 16 boys teams and eight girls teams. The boys will be split into two tiers of eight.

Consolation matches will be played in both tiers within the AA and AAA championships.
The 7s tournament runs on Thursday and Friday, followed by the traditional barbecue social for all participating teams after the 7s champions have been awarded on Friday night prior to the senior men’s 15s trial match.
The 15s finals are on Saturday, with the awards ceremony slated for 6 p.m.
Tickets for the trial match are $8 for adults, $5 for students and free for kids 12 and under.
The match will aid final selection for BC Bears senior men’s coaches ahead of the 2023 Coast-to-Coast Cup competition in Halifax from June 17 to 20, with the final squad set to be announced June 4.
Further training sessions will then take place June 10 and 11 before the team travels to Halifax on June 14 (arriving June 15). The Bears will face the Atlantic Selects and the Toronto Arrows before returning to B.C. on June 22.
