St. John Brebeuf went undefeated in first day of 1A Boys Volleyball Championship

The first day of the 2024 Volleyball Provincial Championships saw a lot of action on the courts, with Abbotsford hosting the 1A Boys portion of the tournament.

A total of 16 teams filtered in and out of the University of the Fraser Valley on Thursday, with a local team even making an appearance.

St. John Brebeuf sent their senior boys team to demonstrate the might of the Bears, which they did in spades thanks to their dominant run that left them with a perfect 3-0 record at the end of the tournament's first day.

In their opening match, the Bears found success against John Knox Christian, overcoming the 25-15 loss in the first set to come back and win the next two sets by a score of 25-18 and 15-6, finishing on top in the best-of-three format.

The next game put them up against Cedars Christian, where they won a couple of close 28-26 and 25-20 sets.

To finish off the first day of the competition, St. John Brebeuf beat Duncan Christian, winning two of the three sets and sending them off into the second day with an impressive winning streak.

The 1A Boys Volleyball Championship continues through the weekend, with the final games wrapping up on the evening of Saturday, Nov. 30.
