The Abbotsford Angels peewee AAA boys baseball team got off to a great start to the summer, winning a pair of tournaments.

The Angels won the Lorne Upsdell Tournament in Ridge Meadows on the first weekend of July, and followed that up with a triumph at a wood bat tourney in Kamloops. The team played some great baseball and pitched well, and the defence kicked in and shut down opponents. The Angels defeated Vernon in the semis and then beat the Calgary Selects in the finals in Kamloops.

The team played their first league game last week against Ridge Meadows, and continued their fine play with a dominant 14-0 win.

Additionally, Angels pitcher/first baseman Cade Smith has been picked for the Team B.C. entry at the Continental Amateur Baseball Association World Series. The tournament runs this week in Sylvannia, Ohio.
