The Mission Outlaws have taken a two games to none lead in their playoff series with the Abbotsford Pilots.

The Mission Outlaws have taken a two games to none lead over the Abbotsford Pilots in their second round playoff series.

After a close opening game on Friday, that saw the Outlaws edge the Pilots 5-4 in overtime, the Mission squad opened up the floodgates, pounding the visitors 10-4 in the friendly confines of the Mission Leisure Centre.

Abbotsford opened the scoring when Kevin Allen found the back of the net, but goals by Mission’s Mitchell Biermann and Baylee Wright made it 2-1 before the end of the first period.

Abbotsford took a 3-2 lead in the second, thanks to markers by Cole Methorst and Kenessary Kylyshbek but that’s when the Outlaws turned up the heat and lit the red light repeatedly.

Second period goals by Ryan Sharma, Justin Bowerman and Tristan Dundas gave Mission a 5-3 lead after two periods.

It was a lead they would never relinquish.

The Outlaws scored five more goals in the third including a hat trick by Kolby Steen and singles by  Bryce Pisiak and Kyle Lennea.

Cole Methorst scored for Abbotsford in the third.

The Pilots have a few days to try and get back on track as the two squads play game three on Tuesday, March 8 at 6:30 p.m. at the Mission Leisure Centre. The Outlaws will be trying to take a stranglehold on the series with a victory.
