Tobyn Smith and Robyn Nakano led the way for the Abbotsford Olympians at the Hyack Icebreaker Classic meet in New Westminster last week.

Smith achieved provincial 'A' qualifying times in a pair of backstroke distances – the 100 metres and 200m – and broke seven club records in the girls eight-and-under division.

Nakano, swimming in the 12-and-under age group, won gold in the 200m back, swimming a national qualifying time of 2:32.23. She also finished second in the 400m free and third in the 200m IM and 200m free.

Olympians swimmers Hannah Weinkauf (four club records) and Connor Green (three club records) also turned in terrific performances at the Hyack meet.

“This was a tough first meet of the year," Olympians head coach Adrienne Goodey pointed out. "We had a week off over Christmas, so the swimmers are not yet at their peak. Everyone raced well and we had some great results."

Registration for the Olympians swim club is ongoing and they are currently offering a free month and a limited two free months to new members. Call 604-825-1856 or visit abbotsfordolympians.com for more information.
