The Abbotsford Olympians swim club is capping a busy month by hosting a free swim lesson weekend, April 25-26 at Matsqui Recreation Centre.

The event is open to youngsters who are interested in seeing what the sport is about. For more information, call 604-825-1856 or visit abbotsfordolympians.com.

The club seeks to help swimmers reach their competitive potential, while infusing a sense of social responsibility by encouraging their athletes to take part in initiatives like helping out needy families during the holiday season, or participating in the Abbotsford Run for Water fundraising race.

Prior to that, Olympians swimmers competed at the Lower Mainland regional championship in Richmond, with outstanding results coming from Taranenko (first, 100m free), Postles (first, 800m free), Katie Charest (third, 100m free), Brooklyn Gerber (second, 50m breaststroke), Daisy Davidson (multiple medalist in 50m free, fly and breaststroke), Peyton Smith (multiple medalist in 200m breast, 50m breast, 200m free, 400m free) and Jayme Reitsma (second, 50m free; third, 50m fly).
