Nick Taylor turned in a solid fourth-place result at the first PGA Tour Canada event of the season.

Abbotsford golfer Nick Taylor launched his PGA Tour Canada campaign in fine fashion, finishing tied for fourth at the season-opening Times Colonist Island Savings Open in Victoria on the weekend.

Taylor was red-hot coming in, having won five straight tournaments on the Vancouver Golf Tour in recent weeks. He carded rounds of 67, 70, 67 and 70 at Victoria's Uplands Golf Club, ending up at six under par for the tourney, five strokes back of winner Stephen Gangluff of Marysville, Ohio.

The 25-year-old earned $5,906 for his finish.

The next event on the PGA Tour Canada (formerly known as the Canadian Tour) schedule is the ATB Financial Classic, June 20-23 at Country Hills Golf Club in Calgary.
