Abbotsford's Magnuson Ford Mariners kicked off the Pacific Coast Soccer League season with a 4-0 win over Chilliwack FC.

The Magnuson Ford Mariners kicked off the Pacific Coast Soccer League season with a 4-0 win over Chilliwack FC.

The Abbotsford squad, playing in the men’s reserve division, opened the scoring in the 16th minute when Justin Sekhon finished off a nice feed from fellow striker Daniel Molendijk.

Molendijk made it 2-0 in the 41st minute, coolly slotting home a penalty kick after being taken down in the penalty area.

The Mariners doubled the lead in the second half. Ryan Liddiard hammered home the third goal, courtesy of a headed pass from James Najman off a Zenow Renaerts corner. Renaerts rounded out the scoring, finishing a give-and-go with Connor Noftle.

The Mariners begin a four-game homestand on Saturday, May 25 at Bateman Park, facing Kelowna United. On Sunday the 26th they host Penticton, and they play TSS Academy and Victoria United on June 8 and 9, respectively. All the games begin at 2 p.m.
