The Fraser Valley Thunderbirds major midget hockey team picked up a pair of matching 5-2 wins last weekend vs. the Vancouver North East Chiefs.
On Saturday, the Thunderbirds got goals from Austin Wellsby, Nicholas Ponak, Hayden Guilderson, Dryden Downing and Andrew Strelezki in the victory. On Sunday, Downing, Wellsby and Danny Choi notched a goal and an assist apiece.
The Thunderbirds (7-9-2) play at Abbotsford Recreation Centre on Saturday, hosting the South Island Royals at 4 p.m.
