The University of the Fraser Valley women's soccer team ran into trouble on the road, dropping a pair of games to highly ranked foes on the weekend.

The Cascades fell 3-0 on Friday to the UBC Thunderbirds, the No. 7-ranked team in the nation, and they were edged 1-0 on Saturday by the No. 4 Trinity Western Spartans.

UBC out-shot UFV 18-8, and cruised to victory behind goals from Taryn Lim, Natalie Hirayama and Janine Frazao.

On Saturday in Langley, Daniela Gerig's goal in the 31st minute was all the offence TWU would need. The weekend results dropped the Cascades to 3-5-2, seventh in Canada West.

n Both UFV soccer teams play at Bateman Park this weekend. The women host Regina on Saturday and Manitoba on Sunday, while the UFV men, coming off a bye, take on UBC Saturday and TWU Sunday. The women play at 12 p.m. both days, followed by the men at 2:15 p.m.
