The Abbotsford Masters Curling Club hosted their annual bonspiel Nov. 7-9 at the Curling Centre on McMillan Road. Twenty-four teams, including nine from Abbotsford, enjoyed the lively competition for cash prizes. Two Langley teams met in the final, where the team of Bruce Lonsbery, Jack Finnbogason, Kiyo Hamade and Wayne Bedard defeated the Doug Spencer rink.  Local club teams held their own with the Munro and Sinclair rinks finishing in the prizes.

There was some great curling, lots of prizes, a tremendous lunch and much laughter and fun throughout the weekend. Many out-of-town teams are already registered for next year’s event.

This weekend the Centre will host the 25th annual Fraser Valley Masters Over 80 Bonspiel, with 12 teams competing for the Art Shaw Trophy. One team, from the Tunnel Town Curling Club, will be curling in their fifth consecutive 80-plus bonspiel, meaning every member of the team is at least 85 years old.

The Abbotsford Curling Club is located at 2555 McMillan Rd., and can be reached at 604-859-9244.
