The Langley Senior Blaze will be back in Abbotsford at DeLair Park on Saturday, for a pair of games that will be their final tuneup before the Grand Forks International Tournament on the Labor Day weekend.

There will be three games at DeLair tomorrow.

Noon: Blaze vs Kamloops Sun Devils

2:30 p.m.: Kamloops Sun Devils vs Seattle Studs

5:30 p.m.: Seattle Studs vs Blaze

Blaze spokesman Steve Peterson said it will be an opportunity for Abbotsford baseball fans to see the highest calibre of amateur baseball.

“The next closest thing is watching the Vancouver Canadians (professional single A),” he asserts.

There is also a local boy to cheer for. Brad Ferraro is an Abbotsford baseball product who is back from a year patrolling the outfield for the Mayville State University Comets in North Dakota, and is playing the summer season with the Blaze.

Last year he was a Comet team leader with the bat, and in 40 games (137 at bats) he hit .343, with two home runs, 37 RBI, a team leading 36 runs scored and 13 stolen bases.

The Seattle Studs were the 2011 PIL league champions and represented the PIL at the NBC World Series in Wichita Kansas.  They also placed second at Wichita in 2010. The Studs are one of the top programs in the USA.  They won the Kamloops International Baseball Tournament and the Kelowna Canada Day Tournament in July.  Both are large cash tournaments.

Jesse Peters, considered the top pitcher in the province, will throw for the Blaze against the Studs on Saturday night.
