The Aldergrove Kodiaks bounced back from a Game 1 trouncing to even their series with the Abbotsford Pilots on Wednesday.

Adam Callegari scored twice and Mark Menicucci made 29 saves as the Kodiaks beat the Pilots 4-2. The best-of-seven Pacific International Junior Hockey League semifinal is now tied 1-1.

Abbotsford had thumped the Kodiaks 8-1 in Tuesday's opener, but goals by Daniel Higgs and MacLean Hewitt staked the hosts to a 2-0 lead at Aldergrove Community Arena on Wednesday before Christopher Vinette got the Pilots on the board at 9:28 of the second.

Callegari restored the Kodiaks' two-goal margin with a shorthanded goal at 18:39 of the middle frame, but just 11 seconds later, Abbotsford's Adam Rossi made good on the power play to draw the Pilots back to within 3-2.

Menicucci stopped all nine shots the Abby squad sent his way in the third period, though, and Callegari clinched the win with an empty-netter with 46 seconds remaining.

Game 3 goes at 7:30 p.m. Friday at MSA Arena, and Game 4 will be back at Aldergrove Community Arena at 8:30 p.m. Sunday.
