Former W.J. Mouat Hawks kicker Matt Riley is set to make the jump to Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) football this fall with the Manitoba Bisons.
Riley, a punter/place kicker who graduated from Mouat in 2013, spent last summer with the Langley Rams of the B.C. Football Conference.
In joining the Bisons, he’s reuniting with a trio he played community football with – ex-Mouat teammates Nick Westad and Brandon Barratt, and former Bateman T-Wolves standout Kent Hicks. Westad and Hicks are defensive linemen, while Barratt is a receiver.
“Those three I’ve been playing football with forever,” Riley enthused.
“Everyone (with the Bisons) is dedicated to putting in the time and work towards winning and getting a chance to play in the Vanier Cup.”
