Hurricanes win league title

The Abbotsford Magnuson Ford U13 Hurricanes girls soccer team is sitting pretty heading into the Coastal Cup final this weekend.

The Hurricanes, playing in the BC Coastal Girls Soccer League, finished third overall out of 10 teams in the eastern division of regular season play earlier this year.

In round robin league championship play, the girls played equal-standing teams from the three other districts and rose to the challenge to finish first overall in round robin play.

The Hurricanes ended the season with a 2-0 win over Langley and a 1-1 draw with Surrey on Feb. 28 to finish first overall in the league championship. They put together a perfect record of four wins and no losses, and outscored the opposition 12-2.

They now play for the Cup final this weekend.
