The U18 Hurricane boys soccer team from Magnuson Ford Mariners FC won the North Vancouver Invitational Tournament last week.

The local squad won all four of their matches by scores of 4-1, 2-1, 2-0 and 2-1. Goalkeeper Sebastian Calderone played well and was helped by the solid defensive play of Josh McClaren, Japnam Grewal, Carl Brechin and Levi Friesen. Midfielders Tanner Dodd, Puvey Binar, Collin Andrews, Adrian Hall, Eric Zamrykut and Jarnel Lalli all contributed throughout each match and strikers Upash Gill and Clayton Hodges kept their opponents busy.

The tourney triumph comes on the heels of the team winning its second consecutive League Cup championship in a tense 1-0  thriller against Coquitlam Metro Ford. The winning goal was scored by Gill off a beautiful cross from Jackson Bell. Shey Waterhouse, Austin Lymburner, Austin Bilodeau and Alex Smith all had a strong final.

The team, many of whom have played together for the past decade, will be travelling to Orange County, Calif. next week to participate in their final youth tournament in front of U.S. college recruiters.
