Terrific performances from the home teams highlighted the Abbotsford Kukri Sevens tournament, hosted by the Abbotsford Rugby Football Club at Exhibition Park last weekend.

ARFC teams won both the elite women's and social men's divisions. Abbotsford's women went undefeated, beating Velox/SFU 17-7 in the final, while Phoenix – the ARFC's U23 men's side – clinched the social title with a 38-12 triumph over Meralomas.

The Abby club added a second-place result in the elite men's division, as the hosts fell 34-29 to Burnaby.

This was the first year that the rugby sevens tourney has been run in conjunction with Agrifair, and organizers deemed the partnership a success.

"Overall we were excited about the calibre of rugby and the turnout from our local players," said the ARFC's Ryan McWhinney.
