The Abbotsford Heat, in partnership with the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, are hosting the first annual Pink in the Rink game at the Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre on Sunday.

Five dollars from every ticket sold to the 1 p.m. game between the Heat and the Peoria Rivermen will go to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation's CIBC Run for the Cure in Abbotsford-Fraser Valley.

The Pink in the Rink event begins at 11:30 a.m., with a Hockey 101 session for ladies led by the Heat coaching staff.

All proceeds from the chuck-a-puck intermission contest will go to Run for the Cure, and the grand prize is a pair of gold earrings valued at $500 courtesy Lee’s Fine Jewellery. There will also be a post-game autograph session with Heat players.

“This is an excellent opportunity to not only raise funds for breast cancer research but also to increase the awareness of breast health in the community," said Susan Johnston, director of the Abbotsford-Fraser Valley Run for the Cure.
