Nick Taylor turned in the best finish of his young Canadian Tour career last weekend, finishing tied for fifth at the Western Championship at Rivershore Golf Links in Kamloops.

Taylor shot 67-67-68-68 to finish at 18 under par, five strokes back of winner Roger Sloan of Merritt. The first-year pro from Abbotsford earned $4,375 for his efforts.

• Adam Hadwin's playing partners and tee times for the first two rounds of the U.S. Open are set.

The Abbotsford pro begins at the first tee at 9:01 a.m. Eastern time today, playing with Christo Greyling of South Africa and Joey Lamielle of Sarasota, Fla. The trio opens the second round at 2:41 p.m. ET on Friday, starting at the 10th hole.

The U.S. Open, being held this week at Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland, is one of golf's four major championships.
