FV T-Birds grab point versus Chiefs

The Fraser Valley Thunderbirds played to a loss and a tie with the Vancouver NE Chiefs last weekend.

The Fraser Valley Thunderbirds Major Midgets are off to a strong start after winning their first three games, and are now 3-2-1, good for fourth place in BC after three weeks.

On Saturday, the T-Birds found themselves on the wrong side of a high scoring 9-6 game against the Vancouver NE Chiefs in which Dawson Rodin and Paul Tucek split the duties in net.

Goals came from Davin Padgam (two), Jamie Housch, Kaelen Anderson, Danny Choi and Kyle Bosko.  Assists went to Brice Sharp (three), Alex Furlan, Nolan Ferguson, Nick Ponak and Anderson.

The weekend rematch ended in a 4-4 tie, earning the T-Birds a single point vs. the Chiefs.

Rodin went the distance in net while Mackenzie Wight (two), Zach McKee and Ponak scored for the T-Birds.  Assists were credited to Padgam (two), Ponak, Marshall Skapski, Wight and Noah Wiebe.

Next week the T-Birds will meet their toughest challenge yet against the league-leading Vancouver NW Giants in a home and home doubleheader.  The T-Birds host the Giants at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11 at the ARC.
