Team BC had a strong showing at the Junior National Ball Hockey Championships, and the Fraser Valley played a big role in the gold medal won by the U17 team.

Several Valley players were selected for the U17 Team BC to play in the Junior National Ball Hockey Championships in Edmonton from July 28 to 31.

Aldergrove residents Josh Boelema and Caleb Boelema, along with Langley natives Trevor Punia, Ryan Barthelson and Braeden Deslauriers, were on the team. Langley residents Kerns Punia and Shawn Peters were on the team's coaching staff.

The rest of the team was made up of the best players from other associations throughout B.C.

The BC Thunder finished the tournament with six wins and zero losses, and outscored the opposition 24-1. The final game against favourites Edmonton saw Team BC win 2-0.

Eight teams from all around Canada competed in the U17 division.
