Four Abbotsford Rugby Football Club (ARFC) teams kept their provincial title hopes alive over the weekend.

The ARFC women's division one, men's division one, men's division two and men's division three teams all punched their ticket to the provincials with wins on home turf.

The men's third division team started the weekend off right, with a 29-13 win over Comox on Saturday. The victory advances ARFC to the division 3B final against Meraloma in West Vancouver on Saturday.

The women's division one team continued their strong season with a dominating 51-12 win over Meraloma on Saturday at Rotary Stadium to also advance to provincials. They now take on United for the provincial crown on Saturday in West Vancouver. The two teams met back on Jan. 23, with United posting a 25-10 win.

ARFC men's division one took the spotlight on Saturday afternoon at Rotary Stadium, taking care of Meraloma 43-10. The club was up 19-10 at halftime, and tries by Josh Thiel and Jake Thiel in the second half put the team up 31-10. Kurtis Appeldoorn and Thiel also added tries late in the second half to secure the win.

The division one club battles Surrey in West Vancouver on Saturday for the provincial title.

The teams met twice in the regular season, with ARFC winning 53-22 on Nov. 14, and winning 22-13 on March 19.

The weekend closed off with ARFC men's division two posting a 16-3 win over Surrey at Rotary Stadium on Sunday.

ARFC was up 6-0 at the half, but Surrey scored three points early to cut the lead in half.

Solomon Puckey put ARFC up 9-3, and was also successful on a convert from a try to give ARFC the win. The club's stellar defence held on for the rest of the game.

The division two club takes on Meraloma on Saturday in West Vancouver for the provincial title.

ARFC beat Meraloma both times they played them in the regular season, winning 23-21 on Feb. 6 and 31-13 on Feb. 20.

All four clubs have dedicated the rest of their seasons to honour Abbotsford rugby legend and former ARFC coach John Cannon, who died earlier this year.
